ACC ENGAGES KAMBIA DHMT AND SCHOOLS

News Item

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), North-West Regional Office, on Thursday 20th November 2025, monitored the offloading of Free Health Care (FHC) drugs and medical supplies at the Kambia District Health Management Team (DHMT) and the Kambia Government Hospital.

The Commission’s presence at the exercise-which brought together key stakeholders including the Sierra Leone Police, Civil Society Organizations, and Paramount Chiefs-demonstrates the ACC’s unwavering commitment to combating corruption and enhancing quality service delivery in the district.

Speaking during the process, the North-West Regional Director, Zainab Othman, cautioned health personnel to handle the medical supplies with utmost care and ensure the items reach the intended beneficiaries. She emphasized that the ACC will conduct frequent unannounced visits to health facilities to deter any attempt at pilfering or misappropriation of drugs and supplies.

Director Othman further urged health workers and their supervisors to uphold diligence, integrity, patriotism, and compassion in their daily duties.

In a related engagement on the same day, the ACC North-West Regional Public Education and Outreach team conducted integrity and anti-corruption sensitization sessions in three schools across Kambia District.

The beneficiary institutions included Movement of Faith School in Bamoi-Luma, Kolenten Senior Secondary School in Kambia, and Mercy Academy in Masori, Bamoi-Luma.

Addressing pupils during the interactive sessions, Director Othman encouraged them to believe in themselves and reject all forms of academic malpractice, including spying, bribery, sex-for-grades, and examination misconduct. She also warned against lateness, absenteeism, and truancy.

She sternly cautioned teachers and school authorities against corrupt practices, noting that the ACC will not hesitate to take appropriate action against any perpetrator.

Senior Public Education Officer, ACC, Samuel Junisa Sankoh, and Senior Investigation Officer, ACC Sheik Sahid Sowa, also engaged pupils, mentoring them on the importance of integrity and ethical behaviour.
