The Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC)
Francis Ben Kaifala Esq. on Monday 23rd December 2024, received the highly coveted KATALA CEDEAO Award, recognized as West Africa’s most prestigious leadership accolade. The presentation was held at the Office of the ACC Commissioner, Integrity House, Tower Hill, Freetown.
The award, under the ‘Public Category’, is bestowed on exceptional individuals in the region for their exemplary leadership.
Patrice Gbamou, the President of the KATALA CEDEAO organizing committee, travelled from Côte d’Ivoire to deliver the award, following the grand ceremony held earlier in Abidjan.
The KATALA CEDEAO Award is an annual recognition program designed to celebrate individuals and institutions making extraordinary contributions to social progress and governance across West Africa. This 8th edition honored Commissioner Kaifala for his transformative efforts in Sierra Leone’s fight against corruption, showcasing how dedicated leadership can reshape public perceptions and instill global confidence in national institutions.
"Through your vision and tireless efforts, you have transformed the fight against corruption in Sierra Leone, giving your country a new image of transparency and integrity on the international stage. Your exceptional journey, marked by academic and professional excellence, is a testament to your determination to make a lasting difference. Your commitment extends beyond the borders of your country, strengthening Africa’s voice in the fight against corruption," the award citation reads.
The multiple award, which is also accompanied with a sleek glass plaque, honors the Commissioner's exceptional leadership in governance and anti-corruption efforts, cementing his role as a notable figure in promoting integrity across the continent.
Responding to the presentation, the bilingual ACC Commissioner seamlessly conversed in French, to the delight of Mr. Gbamou.
Reflecting on this achievement, Commissioner Kaifala expressed gratitude for the recognition, attributing his success to the unwavering support of His Excellency, Brigadier Rtd. Dr. President Julius Maada Bio. He stated: "This award is a reflection of our collective efforts and the commitment of my team at the ACC to make a meaningful impact. With President Bio's visionary leadership and platform, we are transforming Sierra Leone’s image and setting new standards in transparency."
The KATALA CEDEAO Award, comprising a medal, plaque, and certificate, stands as a testament to Commissioner Kaifala’s tireless efforts in laundering and elevating Sierra Leone’s global reputation. His leadership has propelled the Commission to international prominence, earning the country respect for its dedication to accountability and governance.
This also significantly underscores the country's progress in combating corruption and serves as a source of inspiration for young leaders across Africa
