A team from the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) Secretariat, led by the Deputy Commissioner, Augustin Foday Ngobie, has presented the country’s new NAC Strategy 2024- 2028 and the Terms of Reference (TOR) for the formation of the Steering Committee, to the Minister of State, Vice President's (VP) Office, Hon. Manty Tarawalli. The presentation took place at her Tower Hill office on January 16, 2025. The engagement was to update the Hon. Minister on the steering committee's formation and the strategy implementation under her leadership.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of a coordinated approach to combat corruption in Sierra Leone. He highlighted that the NAC Strategy 2024-2028 is aimed at strengthening anti-corruption measures and promoting transparency and accountability at all levels of society. The Strategy, he said, is also designed to promote citizen engagement in the fight against corruption by setting up Integrity Management Committees.

The Steering Committee, which will be chaired by the Ministry of State VP's Office, will oversee the implementation of the Strategy. The Deputy Commissioner presented the Committee's TOR during the meeting. The TOR outlines the Committee's responsibilities, powers, and structure. The Committee will have representatives from various government agencies, civil society organizations, and the private sector.

In response, Hon. Manty Tarawalli expressed her appreciation for the NACS Secretariat's efforts and pledged her commitment to fighting corruption in Sierra Leone. She reiterated the government's commitment to promoting good governance, accountability, and transparency in all its activities and assured the NACS Secretariat of her office’s full cooperation in implementing the Strategy.

Overall, the visit by the NACS Secretariat team served as a reminder of the government's commitment to combating corruption in Sierra Leone. The NAC Strategy 2024-2028 and the formation of the Steering Committee are significant steps towards achieving this goal. With a coordinated approach and a commitment to transparency and accountability, the government hopes to build a more fair and just society for all Sierra Leoneans
