The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has on Tuesday 13th February, 2024 at its Integrity House, Tower Hill, Freetown, received a team from the Development Economy Resource Limited (DER-LTD), publishers of the African Economy Magazine, Annual Meeting Dailies and other Directories, targeting a global Audience.
Disclosing the purpose of the visit, Kelechi Anyanwu, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of the African Economy Magazine said that their Magazine is one that is poised to tell the African stories. He said perspectives inform interest and it is therefore important for Africans to narrate their stories from their peer perspective to a global Audience.
He furthered that their Magazine and related publications make an in-depth report of what is happening in the continent, by speaking to the movers and shakers of Governments across to get first-hand insights on their stories-garnish it so it gets to the right audience.
Mr. Anyanwu also maintained that they looked at the President's inaugural speech and its prominent Big five (5) game changers. "We were informed that there is no way they can talk about what the government has done without mentioning the ACC", he disclosed. He said this is very laudable as the fight Against Corruption is central in creating an enabling environment for investors and investment.
Deputy Commissioner, ACC, Augustine Foday Ngobie noted his appreciation for the courtesy visit, and the interest shown to tell the stories of the incredible strides of the Commission.
He informed the team that the ACC has made tremendous achievements in the past years because of the enormous Presidential and Political Will it enjoys, to do its work unhindered.
He added that the Commission in the past six (6) years has recorded unprecedented jumps in every local and International Indexes and Assessments. "From the MCC Scorecard, Afro-Barometor Report, Transparency International Index, to the National Corruption Perception Survey done locally, they have all validated the enormous gains made in our efforts to tackle corruption, he averred.
Mr. Ngobieconcluded that the Commission has also succeeded in raising awareness and stimulating the consciousness of Sierra Leoneans on the evils of corruption and benefits of a corrupt-free society. This he added, the Commission has done through its various community outreach engagements in every district in Sierra Leone, public lectures in all Tertiary Institutions across the Country, spearheaded by the Commissioner, Francis Ben Kaifala Esq.
