The Deputy Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Augustine Foday Ngobie, has in at a monitoring exercise stated that, "Every PayPoint I have visited leaves me with the conclusion that all of you guys have out-maneuvered a lot of obstacles to have both the beneficiaries' resources, and put the structures in place to facilitate this payment. The process has so far been smooth, and I, on behalf of the Commission and Commissioner appreciate you. Please keep it up and remain vigilant. We shall at all times continue to steadfastly maintain our Zero Tolerance stance on all forms of corruption. If anyone attempts to extort or peddle influence, swift and robust actions will be taken." Mr. Ngobie emphasized.
The ongoing unconditional cash transfer targets 36,000 beneficiaries under the 2nd Cohort SSN project that is been implemented across 8 districts in Sierra Leone. In this latest leg of his monitoring, the astute Deputy Commissioner has traversed several pay communities in Bo District, as he continues to monitor and supervise the unconditional cash transfer process.
Addressing beneficiaries and project personnel, at the pay centre, off Sewa Road in Bo, Mr. Ngobie heaped praises on personnel of the ACC, NaCSA, National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Rokel Commercial Bank, Sierra Leone Union on Disability Issues, the Sierra Leone Police, beneficiaries, and community stakeholders for their amazing display of commitment informed by the efforts invested in the mobilisation of resources and beneficiaries in this festive and traveling season.
He stated that two payments of One Thousand, Three Hundred and Nine New Leones (NLe: 1,309) or One Million, Three Hundred and Nine Thousand Leones (Le: 1,309,000) shall be made to the beneficiaries in the 8 districts that are part of the 2nd Cohort of beneficiaries.
Mr. Ngobie, reassured beneficiaries that despite some difficulties faced in the ongoing payment, every beneficiary will receive their money accurately.
He called on them to cooperate with and support the process wholeheartedly.
The Deputy Commissioner also noted that all beneficiaries will not be paid at the same time.
Payments will be held in the morning and evening for a targeted number of beneficiaries every day.
He stressed that the ACC, which leads in the rollout of the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) component of the SSN project will continue to at all times ensure integrity and transparency in the project by promptly and adequately addressing all corruption-related concerns.
