The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) wishes to inform the general public that it has filed an indictment against SALAM SALIM SHERIFF, Computer Programmer at the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and AMINATA KAMARA of an unknown address, on Three (3) counts of corruption offences. The offences are; Conspiracy to Commit a Corruption Offence, contrary to Section 128 (1), Engaging in Academic Malpractice, contrary to Section 128 (3), and Abuse of Office, contrary to Section 42 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act No.12 of 2008 as amended by the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Act No. 9 of 2019.
According to the particulars of offence, SALAM SALIM SHERIFF and AMINATA KAMARA, on a date unknown between the 1st June 2019 and the 31st May 2021, at Freetown, in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, conspired with other unknown persons to change the grades in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) 2020 Examination Result of AMINATA KAMARA, a candidate in the said Examination, conducted by WAEC.
Meanwhile, SALAM SALIM SHERIFF is expected to appear in the High Court of Sierra Leone Holden at Freetown on 22nd February, 2024, while AMINATA KAMARA is at large and will be tried in absentia as provided for under Section 89 (7) (a) of the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Act No. 9 of 2019.
The Commission wishes to reassure the general public of its continued resolve to curbing all levels of corruption in Sierra Leone.
