The Anti-Corruption Commission"s (ACC) staff in the NorthWest Regional Office on Tuesday 29th August, 2023, benefited from a capacity building program at its Regional Office, Sheriffa Street, Port Loko City.
The training as part of the Commission's commitment to building employees' capacity was conducted by Commissioning a Life of Integrity; a Canadian based organization that supports integrity institutions across the globe.
The Director of Public Education and External Outreach Department at the ACC, Patrick Sandi who was with the Canadian experts, thanked them for providing such profound support to the Commission and also provide the basics and meaningful insights on integrity.
He underscored the significance of imbibing the value of integrity which is integral to changing hearts and minds of Sierra Leoneans, building a better nation, and advancing the fight against corruption.
In his presentation, Bill Pipke provided an explanation on integrity and pointed out its vital components to public service efficiency and nation building. He further stated that integrity benefits everyone, opens up opportunities, and improves the future. "Things are better when you do them right," he emphasized.
Bill Pipke also gave an overview of the power of influence and its various kinds relating to charismatic, expert, moral, and spiritual, among others.
He pinpointed the need to uphold moral integrity and the need to building an integrity of heart, an integrity of hand and living a life of integrity.
Bruce Mann, one of the lead facilitators presented on Dignity and provided an insight on its importance and the need for everyone to possess and safeguard it. " Our Dignity is our worth and we must jealously guard it," he furthered.
In her closing courtesies, the Regional Manager, North-West, Madam Fatu Florence Kamara thanked the team for the training and informed them that the Commission through its public campaigns and engagements has been communicating similar messages to public bodies, communities and the general public and will continue to do so even after the training.
She assured the trainers that the ACC team will continue to reinforce the message of integrity to the public in its aggressive public sensitization campaigns to curb corruption in Sierra Leone.
The Acting Head of Systems and Processes Review Unit, Prevention Department, ACC, Theresa Foday moderated the plenary session of the training.
The training session was climaxed by a presentation of a copy of the Book titled Integrity-the Best Foundation authored by Bill Pipke, to the Regional Manager by ACC's Director Patrick Sandi on behalf of the Commissioner ACC, Francis Ben Kaifala Esq.
