The Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Francis Ben Kaifala Esq., has AGAIN been honored with an Award for his Outstanding Performance in Improving Transparency and Accountability in Sierra Leone.
The award was presented on Tuesday, 3rd December 2024, in his office at the 3rd Floor of Integrity House, Tower Hill, Freetown.
This recognition bestowed by Medrans Media Organization is informed by the admiration for the Commissioner’s tireless efforts in the fight against corruption, Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Sankoh Sankoh said.
He further noted that the media organization, comprising a team of committed journalists, had been closely monitoring the Commissioner’s achievements over the years. “We are a group of journalists dedicated to fearless reporting and broadcasting with integrity.
As part of our commitment, we established this initiative to recognize credible individuals contributing significantly to society,” Sankoh furthered.
Highlighting the gains made in the fight against corruption, under the leadership of Commissioner Ben Kaifala, Sankoh added that the impunity that once plagued Sierra Leone has been significantly eroded; "We have witnessed unprecedented progress in the fight against corruption, and we are convinced of your impact as we have been following your work closely”, he said so fluently.
William Wyse, a member of the Organization who also works at the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), reiterated their organization’s unanimous decision to honor the Commissioner, citing his energetic approach and outstanding leadership. “What we have seen in these years under your leadership has never been seen before,” he asserted.
On receiving the Award, Commissioner Ben Kaifala expressed deep gratitude and humility. He acknowledged the significance of the recognition, stating, “This touches my heart in many ways. I am happy that you have followed and recognized what we have achieved. Your testimonies affirm that we are moving in the right direction.”
Mr. Kaifala further reflected on the progress made since his tenure sharing a striking comparison: “From 2000 to 2017, the ACC’s total Recovery was 16 Billion Leones. Under my leadership, a single recovery has doubled that amount. These results mark the beginning of a generational change, where taking bribes now makes people jittery.”
The Commissioner also emphasized the importance of public collaboration endearing them to stay committed to the fight, as the Commission relies on the media - the journalists that can sometimes be vital whistleblowers. He added that it is worthy to commend the President for providing his unwavering support and the wherewithal in advancing the fight against corruption.
It must be noted that the Commissioner Francis Ben Kaifala Esq. keeps bagging awards and recognitions for the "never seen before leadership" he continues to provide in leading the remarkable charge against Corruption.
