The High Court of Sierra Leone Holden at Bo, presided over by HON. JUSTICE ANTHONY GANDA on Thursday, 10th June, 2021, sentenced PRINCE AMARA, a Lab Assistant at the United Brethren-in-Christ Hospital, Mattru Jong, Bonthe District and of No. 3 Mission Road, Belleh Section, Mattru Jong, Bonthe District, to pay a fine of Thirty Million Leones (Le 30,000,000) or Three (3) years imprisonment, following his conviction on ONE (1) count of Corruption Offence.
The HON. JUSTICE ANTHONY GANDA convicted PRINCE AMARA on count one, following his guilty plea, and ordered that he pays a fine of Thirty Million Leones (Le: 30,000,000) within Twenty-Eight Days;Fifteen Million Leones (Le 15,000,000) to be paid within fourteen (14) days from the date of the judgment and the balance Fifteen Million Leones(Le 15,000,000) to be paid in another fourteen (14) days, or serve Three-Year jail term.
PRINCE AMARA, a Lab Assistant at the United Brethren-in-Christ Hospital, Mattru Jong, Bonthe District, was standing trial on Two (2) Counts of Corruption Offences, One (1) Count of Misappropriation of Public Property, contrary to Section 36(1), and One (1) Count of Conspiracy to commit a Corruption Offence, contrary to Section 128(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act No.12 of 2008, as amended by the Anti-Corruption Act.No.9 of 2019.
In this regard, the Commission wishes to reassure the general public of its relentless commitment to curbing corruption at all levels in Sierra Leone.
