MORE LAURELS FOR THE ACC BOSS
Tuesday 2nd April, 2019
Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission, Francis Ben Kaifala, was today (Tuesday 2nd April 2019) presented with an award as one of the Ten (10) Most outstanding Sierra Leoneans in 2018 for his “revolutionary leadership in the fight against corruption”; after a Global Nomination and Survey involving Sierra Leoneans living in different parts of the globe, by Chosen Generation Sierra Leone (CGSL). Chosen Generation is a registered, youths-focused non-profit organization in Sierra Leone, whose mission is “to empower youths nationwide through the provision of relevant trainings opportunities, mentoring, coaching and support.”
The “Ten (10) Most Outstanding Sierra Leoneans Award” which was incepted in 2017 is a yearly recognition presented to the ten (10) most outstanding Sierra Leoneans who are making tremendous contributions to nation building in their different fields. Presenting the award on behalf of CGSL, Ashley Fatorma underscored that the organization believes that in an era when Sierra Leone is experiencing a dearth in quality leadership, mentors and role models, it is important that a credible awarding scheme be devised to recognize the hardworking Sierra Leoneans who consistently demonstrate excellence and leadership in their various roles.
Accepting the award, Commission Ben Kaifala thanked CGSL for recognizing the good efforts of the ACC in leading the fight against corruption. “These recognitions are not taken lightly by us at the ACC. We believe them to be an action-in-silence by Sierra Leoneans who are setting a certain standard for us at the ACC—standards that we cannot afford to fall below going forward. We promise to continue to do more and not less, in making sure we sustain the fight against corruption”, Commissioner Kaifala said.
This award comes in wake of a recent award bagged by the Commissioner of the ACC as “West Africa’s Young Person of the Year 2018”; presented by the Confederation of West African Youths, at an event held over the weekend at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Freetown.
