The US Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Michael Owen, last week, held his farewell press conference at the US Embassy in Freetown. Ambassador Owen has been in Sierra Leone for the past three years, as the representative of President Barack Obama. During his tenure he has been able to help the country in achieving several successes, especially in the areas of governance and investment.
As the journalist assigned to cover US Embassy programmes during my days with Cotton Tree News (CTN), I attended the first press conference held by the Ambassador after presenting his credentials to President Ernest Bai Koroma. I was probably the first local journalist to hold an interview with him and he was clear from the outset that he really meant well for Sierra Leone.
