1. 1 4 th January, 2014 PRESS R ELEASE ACC FORMALLY PRESENTS OVER 1.5 BILLION LEONES OF MONIES RECOVERED IN 2013 TO FINANCE MINISTER The Anti - Cor ruption Commission (ACC) has on Tuesday 1 4 th January 2014 formal ly presented to the Minister of Finance and Economic Development , Dr Kelfala Marrah , approximately O ne Billion Three Hundred Million Leones (Le 1,3 00 , 000 , 000) as monies recovered from individuals and institutions in 2013. Speaking at the event at the Minister’s George Street office in Freetown, the ACC Commissioner , Joseph Fitzger ald Kamara , stated that the recoveries , which he described as an essential tool in the fight against corruption , amounted to over Twelve Billion Leones (Le 12, 000,000,000) to present. All recoveries have been paid into the Consolidated Revenue Fund. The Minister , Dr Ma r rah , tha nked the ACC Commissioner and his team, noting that he was happy to note that the Commission was ever - determined to ensure that state resources are not misappropriated by few individuals. He also emphasized that the recoveries by the ACC were a good step to reduce wastages in the Public S ector. The Commission wishes to reassure the general public that it will not relent in ensuring that publ ic funds are protected .
